Trump’s announcement undermines efforts to unite Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel and the United States behind a common strategy, for reasons I addressed in the article.

All the reports of when Arab governments heard about the decision contradict your claim. Rather than consulting them, Trump informed them of the already-made decision shortly before announcing it.

You’ve made a clear prediction: after a few weeks the Palestinians will come to the negotiating table (pushed by the Saudis), and once there they will be offered land in Egypt and a capital in East Jerusalem.

I predict that will not happen, because Israel has over 200,000 settlers in East Jerusalem and has no intention of giving it up, and because the Palestinians see Trump’s decision as supporting Israel’s intention of keeping East Jersusalem.

We can check back in a few weeks and see who was right.
