Trump Jr., Kushner, and Manafort meeting with someone they believed to be a representative of the Russian government with secret dirt on Hillary Clinton is, as you put it, “very much not same thing” as the Steele Dossier.

The latter alleges Russia has compromising information on Trump Sr. (including, but not limited to, the infamous “pee pee tape”), and that Russia bribed Trump and his associates, including Carter Page, with shares of Rosneft, the state-owned Russian oil giant. There are other accusations in there as well.

None of that has been confirmed, certainly not by Junior’s emails.
