This is an interesting criticism, different from most of what I’ve gotten.

One could make an argument that the U.S. should abandon Afghanistan, cede Pakistan to China, go all-in on India, and make India’s northern border the dividing line in a geopolitical competition with China (hopefully milder than the Cold War, but competitive nonetheless).

I’d disagree — because instability in Pakistan is arguably a greater threat to the U.S. than to China due to the possibility of anti-American factions gaining control of nuclear weapons, and a relative dearth of anti-Chinese factions — but it’s an logical argument and worth considering.

And I’m also more concerned about jihadists than you seem to be.

Thanks for the reply.
