The latter is a big reason I’m criticizing the former. There are powerful forces denying climate change despite the immense amount of evidence, and others who recognize the planet is warming but have decided not to care. Some of them argue in bad faith, latching on to anything they can to discredit the idea that we should work to mitigate it.

Misrepresenting climate science with “12 years until the end of the world” and similar inaccuracies gives them ammo. I’d like people who support action on climate change not to play into their opponents’ strategy.
