The American Civil War and the French Revolution both involved fighting against unrepresentative, undemocratic institutions. The advantage of democracy is it allow contentious disagreement, and provides some resolution, without violence.

In non-democratic systems, non-violent “people power” movements have had some successes. But I won’t naively claim that force — both within and between countries — has never led to positive change.

Still, the why and how matter quite a bit, and I don’t think Daenerys’ violence meets that standard.
