That’s the propagandists’ goal.

Old-school Soviet propaganda (think Pravda) tried to get people to believe something that wasn’t true. Russia’s current propaganda strategy is to get people to doubt that Truth exists. Flood the public space with many loud, divisive viewpoints, each of which insists others are lying. Then people throw up their hands, thinking “no one’s telling the truth, everyone has an agenda.”

That way, they believe “their side” — sure, that guy lies, but everyone does, and at least I know he’s fighting for me — or just check out.
