That’s definitely part of it. Probably a much bigger part, though it’s really hard to measure, so we can’t determine how much is the legacy of the financial crisis, how much is 9/11 and the War on Terror, how much is internet-facilitated communication and organizing, etc. But in general, it’s clear all those things help explain how we got here.
