Patrick Lawrence’s article in The Nation declares that “there was no hack of the Democratic National Committee’s system on July 5 last year — not by the Russians, not by anyone else.”

That’s a negative. To prove it, he cites evidence of a file transfer at 22.7 megabytes per second, which he argues could not be accomplished by a remote hacker.

If that were true, he would have successfully proven the negative. But there are many possible ways a remote hacker could have transferred files at the speed. So he didn’t.
