My opinion of Brennan is not as negative as yours — though I agree some criticisms against him are justified — but you’ll notice I didn’t discuss his record in office in this article. That’s because, in this context, it doesn’t matter. The right to free speech is independent of the content of that speech (with a few notable exceptions, such as incitement and libel, though expressing a political opinion after a career in government isn’t among them).
