I’m a critic of Obama’s foreign policy as well, and have written about it before. But that’s outside the scope of this article.

Where we disagree is your claim that “Trump has a much better sense of how to rally the world against radical Islamist terrorism.” He’s alienated important partners throughout Europe and the Middle East, and squandered American credibility. Who, whether ally or adversary, believes Trump means everything he says and will always follow through on his threats and promises?

The only ones who want to work with Trump are the Eastern European nationalists you mentioned, the Saudis and other Arab autocrats — who are trying to manipulate him for their own ends — and a subset of right-wing Israeli hawks. That falls far short of “the world.”
