I think Johnstone’s a good writer too, but I disagree with a main thread of her argument (as you can see from my article).
The United States is objectively the most powerful state in the world. And it deserves criticism for various things. But there’s a naive utopianism running through some of the more radical criticisms — an assumption that tearing down the establishment will lead to something better.
But looking at the available alternatives, there’s a decent chance it could lead to something worse, something even less capable of positive change from within.
