I expect it to survive too. But I want it to thrive.

The alternative I worry about is not the Western alliance completely collapsing, but a weakening — a decoupling — that leaves Europe more of a counterweight to the United States and less of a partner. European cooperation with China and Russia regarding America’s withdrawal from the Iran deal is the best current example of that.
