I don’t see a way to simultaneously satisfy Israel’s legitimate security concerns and Palestinians’ legitimate desire for self-determination. Or, rather, I can imagine it, but I see no way to get there from here.

I considered ending this on an optimistic note — a sort of “hey, you never know, things can change” — but I think acting as if the two state solution could happen some time soon is contributing to making things worse (though I do wish that weren’t the case).
