Great list of beliefs. Can a reasonable person believe differently than you?
As a general statement, of course. On the Kavanaugh-related beliefs I listed, I’d say some are more open to interpretation than others.
There are a few where I’d call someone who disagrees unreasonable. For example, whether he Kavanaugh at all. If you insist no, I don’t think that’s reasonable, because you’re denying reality. But on how much his lies matter, and whether they should outweigh other considerations when it comes to the confirmation vote, there’s a lot of room for reasonable disagreement.
Could you respect that difference of belief in our civil society?
Absolutely. I suppose it depends on what you mean by “respect,” since there are some positions that would lead me to have less respect for the person asserting them. But if you’re asking if think it’s important to show basic human respect and share society with people I think are wrong or being unreasonable, my answer is yes, definitely.
